Hi, I'm Pete, the founder of Happy Go Puppy.  Giving dogs what they need is my passion and joy.  

After caring for many family pets, including three dogs throughout my childhood and young adult life my journey to become more involved with helping our k9 friends truly began at the Kat Center in Kathmandu, Nepal (katcentre.org). I made several trips over a number of weeks to this remarkable organization that rescues and rehabilitates stray dogs. Having over 80 dogs to care for is a major challenge. And these were dogs from the streets of Kathmandu! I had to learn how to build trust and gain respect with dogs that had very little, if any, contact with humans. Living with the local staff and caring for the animals daily was very rewarding and I felt a true appreciation for the dogs and the people trying to help them.

I spent the majority of 2022 working for a local dog walking company here in Nanaimo to hone my skills as a pack leader.  My mentors are dog behavior specialists and they have taught me extremely valuable skills. Each dog is unique in personality, background and needs so understanding the individual dog really helps to integrate them quickly into the pack.

 

As the pack leader I will be calm, assertive and loving with your four-legged family member to ensure they have the best possible experience on each and every hike with us.
